Contract Law and Legal Document Drafting workshop – 2 days

The essential skills of drafting clear contracts, including basic contracts, guarantees, indemnities, warranties, conditions and other contract terms.

The seminar includes basic legal concepts in contract law, its rights, remedies and enforceability.  This two day seminar will be delivered by an experienced British lawyer/linguist used to the multicultural, international flavour of modern business. The seminar will cover not only the practical knowledge needed by lawyers working in international commerce but will also simulate an international contract negotiation scenario, with workshops, teams and simulated strategy meetings, as well as tactical argument development.

Legal writing workshop – 2 days

The essential skills of writing concisely and clearly in plain English, including drafting clear contract clauses, letters, reports, legal arguments  and other documents.

The seminar will be delivered by a British lawyer used to the multicultural, international flavour of modern business. The seminar will simulate realistic work based tasks. There will be numerous breakout sessions, for the participants to work through the material in the presentations, individually and in teams, under the guidance of the trainer.

Arbitration skills workshop – 2 days

A two day training seminar for both practicing and would-be arbitrators. Focussing on the written side of arbitration proceedings, it will improve the participant’s written skills to provide, persuasive, clear explanations of legal arguments and facts.

A large part of Arbitration consists of written arguments. Participants will learn the essential skills of drafting clear statements of both facts and law to produce strong persuasive arguments.

The seminar will show how to apply the law to the facts in the clearest manner to produce logical powerful arguments as to the merits of their case. This two day seminar will be delivered by an experienced British lawyer/linguist used to the multicultural, international flavour of modern business. The seminar will cover not only the practical knowledge needed by lawyers working in international arbitration but will also simulate an international arbitration scenario, with workshops, teams and simulated strategy meetings, as well as tactical argument development.

Negotiation skills for lawyers – 2 days

The Negotiation skills workshop is a two day training session for practicing lawyers and law students. It will improve their ability, skill and understanding of how to negotiate effectively and successfully in English with international lawyers from different jurisdictions. The workshop will deal with vocabulary, planning, tactics, cultural differences and other important points required to achieve the objective.

Participants will gain experience and understanding and practice in preparing for and conducting successful negotiations in English. The training will include the language of negotiation, preparation of the negotiation position, win-win scenarios, effective use of body language, plus instruction on recording and confirming the deal.

There will be numerous breakout sessions, for the participants to work through the tasks, in teams guided by the trainer.

Oil and Gas Law and Practice Seminar – 4 half-days

Participants will gain first-hand practical experience and understanding of the current legal issues affecting companies involved in the Oil and Gas Industry, including: The Formation, Production and Ownership of Oil and Gas Rights. The training covers the different kinds of Oil and Gas Interests which are common in different countries and their Protection as well as the Creation, Ownership and Transfer of Oil and Gas Interests. The other topics in the intensive course include: Interpretive Problems in Oil and Gas Conveyancing and Lease Transfers, Essential Clauses of Modern Oil and Gas Leases including Lease Savings Clauses, Lease Royalty Clauses and Implied Covenants.

Participants will learn how to conduct international Oil and Gas disputes from experienced practitioners. The participants will learn from practicing commercial lawyers about:

  • The essential elements of Oil and Gas Leases and agreements
  • The structuring of Host Country and Joint Venture Agreements
  • Dealing with Oil and Gas leases and rights.
  • International investment dispute resolution
